The main window of ShortKeys displays the current active list of shortkeys, the first portion of the replacement text and any suffixes added.

Extensive Preferences allow you to control how ShortKeys works for you:

The Modify Keys window or editor allows you to add or edit existing shortkeys. Play back in either plain text, or in rich text which allows for various colors, font types, sizes, bolding, etc.

These options will allow you to individually customize the shortkeys you have already created by selecting the Customize Macro Settings option. Otherwise the shortkey options will default to the Global Settings defined in Options | Preferences | Playback.

ShortKeys offers support for a number of international symbols and other characters. From the Modify Keys window click on the Insert button and then click on Symbols to see the available symbols.
